Louisville International Airport officials unveiled Taxiway Alpha on Tuesday, October 21, 2014. The $46.6 million project, which began construction in 2007, enables the airport to handle much larger cargo loads. The taxiway is 10,000 feet long and 100 feet wide. It is capable of handling the Airbus A380 and the Boeing 747-8, which can carry up to 1 million pounds. The new taxiway provides flexibility and potential for the company as it grows in the future. Louisville International Airport is the third largest cargo aircraft hub in the United States and the seventh largest cargo hub worldwide.
